Currently between trail bikes, I thought I might enter the alternate, genre smashing, new world order of fat biking. This Rocky Mountain Blizzard has 4.7" tires which is almost double the width that I have been running on my trail bike (2.4").

Destination Mt Hutt Bike Park and a hearty climb up the ski field access road was quite the resistance training with 10psi and and extra 6lbs of butter in bike weight.

Going down, with gravity assistance the low pressures made rocks and roots smooth as silk and I was grinning widely. Not nearly as fast but hey it's no race.

The fat bike bug didn't quite bite. But it's so different and I can appreciate the applications. Massive traction, low tire pressures, big load carrying. Fat bikes respect!
